Hot Summer Farm Fun

Dorothy was so right when she said that "there is no place like home".  There truly isn't anything like it.  It's cozy, it's comfortable, it's messy sometimes, but it's lived in and loved and it's our home.  As much as I loved visiting with mom, while Dale was away, I also loved coming home.  Don't get me wrong, we were very well taken care of.  Meals were made, naps were welcomed, I was sent out for a little trip into town solo mia, and sent home with mostly all clean clothes. *Sidenote: This just makes unpacking so much easier, I loath unpacking.  To prove it, When we came home from our Chapman Family Special Trip, I waited 1.5 weeks to unpack that rolling bag.  Did I mention I detest unpacking? Back to the subject...I treasured my time with my folks.  However, there were a few points when Levi would terribly misbehave and throw tantrums, or the girls wouldn't sleep until the wee hours of the morning, that I wished I was wearing those magical red shoes, and could click my way home too.

It's always a tricky thing balancing the parent/child/grandparent relationship, especially when it comes to discipline.  I always feel like I'm the bad guy.  And truth be told, I'm not, it's just that there needs to be a re-enforcer, someone to remind him of his responsibility to behave in a certain way, and that just needs to be me, it has to be me, it should be me.  But that cute little blonde, green eyed boy knows how to play his cards just right, and get Grandma all wrapped up in his cuteness.  The boy knows this game, he is the pro-athlete in his field baby, and mama just needs to be the coach and referee.

We're back home and settling back into routines.  You'll be glad to know that the suitcase is yes, unpacked, I know, impressed aren't you?  We drove on out to the farm today and made a little excursion of it while we were out. I don't know if I've said it before, but I absolutely love this farm.

I was trying to explain to Levi what made the rooster different.  First of all he's a dude, white, and has a really big...quick, thing on the top of his head, what is it called?!  I called it his hair.  I know now it is actually called a comb, and the little dangly red things coming off of their face are called wattles.  I am now well versed in my rooster parts and I will have accurate descriptions next time.

Everything was feeling extra photogenic.

I love this boy.
